- A display with at least HD resolution (1920×1080) is ideal.
For speech-based users, a loudspeaker or headphones on your end device is of advantage (desktop PC/laptop).
For speakers and interpreters
Please note the following for smooth participation:
- You use common currently supported operating systems (Windows 10, macOS & Linux).
- Check the current browser version on your operating system (Supported: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome & Apple Safari).
- You have a stable, fast internet connection (preferably no Wi-Fi; Internet connection with at least 32 Mbit/s Down and 10 Mbit/s Up. The connection should also work with 6 MBit/s Up, but please make sure that all other electronic devices are deactivated, such as a kettle. is connected to Alexa (!?!)). Please make sure that a check of your transfer speed on www.speedtest.net shows at least these down/up values.
- A display with at least one HD resolution (1920 1080) is ideal. Please note that 2 devices are recommended: a screen for the online presentation (PowerPoint, lecture, …) as well as a separate screen for the camera feed (so your webcam) or internal feedback (communication with the technical team or display in the live stream).
- For speech-based users: Speakers or headphones on your end device (desktop PC / laptop).
- For our speakers: A current HD webcam is desirable, ideally with a resolution of 1920×1080 or at least 720p. If you have any doubts, please contact the DeafIT team.
- For our interpreters, an HD webcam is mandatory (1920×1080 resolution).
- Please ensure that there is sufficient lighting! For good image quality and therefore for an optimal image for understanding (oral image) for the hearing-impaired participants, your face must be properly illuminated from the front. Please also make sure to minimize the lighting in the background for the high contrast resolution. This means darkening the windows as much as possible, ideally, you have a monochrome wall as a background. Since visual transmission plays an important role at this conference, we would like to urge you to refrain from chroma keys and gimmicks that change your background.
If you have any questions or problems, you can send an e-mail to the DeafIT team at info@deafit.org. We will be happy to help!
