Press Release – 7th DeafIT Conference 2022 Online
It gets even better: Our second conference via live stream
On 18th & 19th March 2022, the 7th DeafIT Conference will take place for the second time digitally on the DeafIT-Website via a live stream. The DeafIT Conference is an information technology event showcasing accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. With a wide range of professional presentations around IT, the conference is accessible to everyone thanks to sign, written, and spoken language.
The DeafIT team is once again facing the challenges of the pandemic and has decided to turn the conference into a fully digital experience again this year. Last year, we learned a lot of new things and worked intensively for this year to optimize the interactive platform in terms of exchange and networking to meet the demands of a physical conference. This unique conference is tailored to the needs of participants with hearing disabilities.
Our vision of digital participation
All presentations by the speakers will be displayed in both spoken and German Sign Language (DGS) as well as in German and English written language. In addition, the participants can take part in presentations interactively via the chat function. In order to create the best possible conditions, we have generated a platform that is as accessible as possible. For example, it is possible to adjust the window with the sign language interpreter the stream individually to the user’s own needs.
Focus on information technology and diversity
Thanks to the many top-class keynotes and speakers from Germany and abroad, we are able to present an exciting and diverse program. The DeafIT team not only welcomes international guests from the USA, Great Britain, India, Hungary, Austria, and Switzerland but also new and young faces from all over Germany. We are also broadening our horizons and are pleased to welcome people with visual disabilities and a wheelchair user among our speakers for the first time this year.
The program includes many interesting IT lectures on accessibility, artificial intelligence (AI), programming, blockchain, cloud, software architecture & development, and design thinking.
Sign language, subtitles, spoken language – these are the conference languages of the DeafIT Conference
The DeafIT conference stands for accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. Therefore, it is offered in the following languages: German Sign Language (DGS), subtitles in German or English, and spoken language in German or English according to the language of the lecture.
With EVE, we have a partner at our side who provides the German and English subtitles with their cloud-based service. This tool recognizes speech with the help of artificial intelligence and automatically generates live subtitling. In addition, proofreaders at VerbaVoice optimize and edit the subtitles manually.
Showroom – the digital booths of our sponsors
In the showrooms, the sponsors Microsoft, codecentric, EVE, and Google will present themselves. You can contact the sponsors directly via chat and ask questions. The sponsors EVE & VerbaVoice, Institute for Digital Participation, MaibornWolff, and Siemens are also participating in the online conference with their contributions.
Take the opportunity of using our interactive network
The conference not only consists of presentations by the speakers but also offers the opportunity for interaction. In the lobby provided by us and in the live stream, participants can chat with the other attendees, the speakers, the diversity-interested companies, and the DeafIT team and exchange ideas. In this way, our conference not only promotes digital participation, but also professional integration, and can thus make a valuable contribution to future careers.
The DeafIT team is very pleased to share diversity and inclusion with all participants – whether with or without disabilities. Thanks to the digital nature of the conference, ticket capacities are fully available.
